The four (4) key focus areas of Engagement, Representation, Inclusion and Identity require strong focus and its own set of skills, knowledge and resources.
Each focus area will run as an independent portfolio with a set of responsibilities, accountabilities and independence to deliver on the defined outcomes below:
Engage with Indian Muslims (Portfolio Manager)
- To grow a robust membership base that represents the diversity within the Indian Muslim community, ensuring a wide range of voices and experiences are heard and valued.
- To actively attend and participate in national and interstate events hosted by Indian Muslim communities, demonstrating support and building relationships that strengthen our shared mission.
- To establish strong communication channels with Indian Muslims across Australia, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Membership and Representation (Portfolio Manager)
- To secure representation in government bodies and multicultural agencies, to influence decisions and policies affecting Indian Muslim community.
- To engage in policy and political advocacy that protects and promotes the wants, needs and aspirations of Indian Muslims at local, state, and national levels.
- To empower Indian Muslims to effectively combat Islamophobia and marginalization through policy initiatives, political engagement, and legal advocacy.
Cultural Celebration and Community Inclusion (Portfolio Manager)
- To promote interfaith dialogue and understanding, creating spaces for shared experiences and learning among diverse communities.
- To celebrate and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Indian Muslims through events, programs, and educational initiatives.
- To contribute to the enrichment of Australia’s multicultural landscape by highlighting the contributions and traditions of the Indian Muslim community.
Reinforcing the Indian Muslim identity (Portfolio Manager)
- To celebrate and publicise the historical and modern achievements of Indian Muslims, actively challenging stereotypes and fostering a genuine understanding of their identity within Australian society.
- To foster partnerships with media, academic, and cultural organisations to promote accurate representations of Indian Muslim traditions, justice, values, and contributions.
- To empower the Indian Muslim community through educational and cultural initiatives that enable individuals to express and reclaim their rich and diverse heritage.
